ripplenotions is a private task board and schedule built by Josh for
himself and Ryan, who run a business together. It is not a product, it is not sold, and it has
no users other than the two of them. This page says exactly what it records, because the honest
answer is "a lot", and that is worth knowing rather than discovering.
The short version. Everything you type into the app is stored.
Every change you make is also stored permanently as a separate before-and-after record, even
after you undo it or delete the thing. Both of you can see everything on the shared board. None
of it is sold, shared with advertisers, or fed to any AI system.
What is recorded
- Everything you type: tasks, titles, notes, schedule blocks, meeting documents, end-of-day
reviews and feedback messages, along with any images you upload.
- How you use the app: when tasks are created, started, finished, moved, rescheduled or
deleted, how long you estimated something would take against how long the timer actually
ran, and your answers to the questions the app asks you.
- Your settings, and which of you did each of the above.
- A permanent edit history. Every change is written to an append-only log
with the old value, the new value, who made it and when. This log is never edited and never
deleted, including when the task itself is deleted. Its purpose is to find patterns worth
discussing at the weekly meeting.
What is deliberately NOT recorded
- No keystroke timing, mouse tracking, session replay or screenshots.
- No score or rating of either person's reliability or productivity.
- Nothing about your computer outside this app's own tab.
- Google event titles and times are imported into the schedule. The app does not retain
other invitees' details; your own response is used only to hide events you declined.
- No advertising trackers, no analytics services, no third-party scripts of any kind.
- Nothing is sent to any AI or language model. The app records; a person reads it later.
Who can see it
Josh and Ryan, and nobody else. This is one shared board on purpose, so treat anything you
write here as visible to the other person. Josh, having built it, can also read the underlying
database directly, which in practice means he can see more of the edit history than Ryan will
ever bother to look at. That asymmetry is real and is why this page exists.
Other services involved
- Cloudflare hosts the app and stores the database.
- Google Calendar, only if you connect it. The app reads the events on your
main calendar (their titles and times) so they show on your schedule. It is read only: it
never creates, changes or deletes anything on any of your calendars. You can disconnect at any time in Settings, or from your Google account
permissions page.
- cal.com, to show client calls that were booked with you. Read only.
Google data is used only to show and manage your schedule inside this app. It is never
transferred anywhere else, sold, or used for advertising, and it is never used to train any
model. This includes complying with the Google API Services User Data Policy, and its Limited
Use requirements.
How long it is kept
Indefinitely, which is the point: the value of the record is that it goes back. Deleting a
task hides it from the board but keeps the row and its history. If you want something genuinely
erased, ask Josh and he can remove it from the database directly.
Your choices
- Disconnect Google Calendar whenever you like. The app keeps working without it.
- Ask for anything you wrote to be deleted, or ask to read the full edit history about
yourself. Both are reasonable requests and neither needs a reason.
Security, honestly stated
Access is by username and password over HTTPS, and the data sits in Cloudflare's database.
This is a two-person tool built by a 17-year-old, not a bank. It is fine for planning your week.
Do not store passwords, card numbers or anything you would be hurt by losing in it.
Children
Both users are 17. The app is not offered to the public and is not directed at children under
13.
